Free Forum Hosting by TNS?!

We're thinking of adding this feature so users (If they so wish) can have their own forums about subjects you with that obviously arent heavily sum41 related :P so u can use them for other bands, Gaming clans? whatever!

Only catch is there would be 1 or 2 Google text ads which all money generated from will go back into our hosting fees.

We are also looking into adding this for Blogs (Proper Wordpress blogs, not the shitty ones we have now).

So... Discuss.

I think its a pretty sweet idea but may have some backlashes.

i cant see the forums causing too many problems with server load, but i think i will cap it at 50 forums to start with and then if they are still moving fairly quickly we'll step things up. As for blogs, we could easily host 1000+.

Bare in mind we are also paying for well over 10 times the amount of bandwidth we are actually using.

I don't really see the point. even if everyone did make a forum. That's - users from TNS...

there is that, but it would add some 'dynamicness' (Is that how u would say it?) to the TNS community, people can remain a part of TNS however take their severely off topic banter away from the main site, and build (smaller) communities within our nice big one to let the main site's main influence to be sum-41(whoever they are :s), also allowing other users who may be put off of joining the main forum as it is a subject which has no interest to them (And they may click ad's which will pay our hosting bill (Yes, we will try to keep the main site ad free with exception of the donate link (thankyou Bobbyjames, You are thus far the ONLY donator of a whole $3. and for that, we love you dearly and feel that everyone should send you naked pictures of themselves).).

Anyways - i can currently say that the new blogs look promising and are being tested and designed to look the part within TNS whilst ironing out a few problems with it... mainly the fact that it dosent work in firefox... so yeah, we want TNS to be a place where users can be social on so many levels! whilst not forgetting why we're here. (yeah, that Sum-41 band-thingy again) and hopefully make it so we can provide a fair bit of your social networking needs (We have no plans to buy out myspace or facebook as of yet tho).

I like the idea of forums, but I cant be sure how many people would actually use it...

And I'm also fairly sure most people who want blogs already have them. (Be it via blogspot, or wordpress or whatever.)

But go ahead I say! Seeing as you have the bandwith to spare...
