Very few UH songs on setlist.

Post by Blastero »

Does anyone else dislike the fact that, especially compared to earlier tours, Sum 41 has put very few new songs on their setlist for their recent shows?

When I saw them in Chicago on 9/28, they played Underclass Hero, Walking Disaster, March of the Dogs and King of Contradiction. From what I've gathered, those are pretty much the same ones they played in most other places.

Not only is that less than half of the new songs, and correct me if I'm wrong, but save King of Contradiction, those songs in particular were already pretty well known before the album came out.

I find this kind of disappointing, and odd, considering that on past tours, they'd put almost their entire new album on the setlist.

Well i know personally i'd prefer a few songs from each album rather than just the majority of Underclass hero if i was to go to a Sum 41 concert.

^ same here. but it would be nice if they switched up the set list once and a while. it would be good so we could see them play songs that they hardly play.

Well, actually the sums are known to be pretty varied on tours, they are one of those bands who do agree with the fact that playing the same setlist every night is just too freakin' boring.
I remember some guy here on the forum said he saw them performing live Count Your Last Blessings which is very rare, and someone also said something about them playing Speak of the Devil once, so they try to be varied but somewhy those great songs (who are less known from UH) like Speak of the Devil and CYLB they play a lot less, while of course they play Walking Disaster and Underclass Hero every show.

Of course as varied as they try to be, they still perform Hell Song, Still Waiting and Fat Lip for example every show, but thats good, cuz like, i never seen 'em live and when i'm gonna see them i do prefer so see such classics by them as Still Waiting, etc. instead of KOC for example, although i would love to hear Speak of the Devil, Count Your Last Blessings and Pull The Curtain live instead of some older songs live, especially since it'll be super rare.

If you think about it, UH aside, they've played almost every non B-side at one point or another.

HHOP - The only song from this album I have yet to see or hear them do a live performance of is Ride the Chariot, and I'm betting they've played it at SOME point during their early days, at least, and it was just never recorded.

AKNF - Every song from this album has been played live at one point or another.

DTLI - Billy Spleen is the only song I have never seen or heard them play from this album.

Chuck - Open Your Eyes and I'm Not the One are the only two that I don't think they've played live. They did play Moron, though, which sort of makes up for that, as playing B-sides is pretty rare.

They never played Noots and Subject to Change either.
They also never played live WWVII Parts 1 &2, nor Rock You and Reign in Pain.
And i'm pretty sure they never played Another Time Around too.

Oh and they never played Slipping Away too.

Well yeah, I said non B-side. They almost never play B-sides, except for Moron.

And they have played Another Time Around. I have a recording of it from the HHOP days.

And if I'm not mistaken, they did play a bit of Slipping Away in some of their Chuck shows.

When I saw them, I wanted them to play Pull the Curtain instead of either All Messed Up or My Direction (I don't remember which one they played.)

I haven't seen Sums live but I have seen much videos and I think My Direction is awesome live. But I would love to hear Pull The Curtain live, since I consider it as the best song from UH.

Well I agree, but the GCY era was an exception. I think the shows were all the same, with the same order aswell, with few exceptions.

To compare the London and Minnesota shows, only difference was that Moron was replaced with The Bitter End in Minnesota. Exactly the same setlist, with exactly the same speeches between the songs.

But I'm glad they've gone back to changing setlists for every show for UH era. 8)
