Reminds me of the 1970 Marshall University Football team crash in West Virginia.

Hockey community is hurting bad this summer, sad to hear about

I heard the plane was a yak 42, same plane that crashed in 2003 in which 62 soldiers died
I'm not hockey fan, hell I don't even know how to play, but it sucks ...RIP

Ruslan Salei and Brad McCrimmon were major losses to the Red Wings family. Salei was huge in the playoffs last year, and McCrimmon helped Detroit almost beat the Pens in '09 as an assistant coach. So many people lost their lives... so many will be missed.

Mother of Sergey Ostapchuk (one of the victims) had a fatal heart attack after hearing about the loss of her son.

These stories make me :balling:

Such a shame. Feel sorry for the rest of the team that never went. Must be hard for them.

Jan Marek went to this team just 14 days before the crash, he didn't want to go, he's got a 10-month old son so he decided to make some money for the family just this season and then wanted to get back to his family. :sosad:

According to LifeNews, Ivan Tkacenko(The captain of the team) has been anonymously sending money to a family whose daughter had leukemia, the 25th of December he sent them 500 000 rubles (12 thousand euros), and according to the lifenews the last transaction was made just 15 minutes before the start of the plane ... he helped the girl to receive treatment in Germany ...

so fucked up, a death of one man might cause a death of another person, I hope at least that he managed to give the girl enough to get through that disease, an act like that will never die
