i want to get a new phone and i need some help deciding what i should do. i want an iphone, but i don't know what would be the best option. Should I...

1) buy the cheaper iphone 3gs and wait until the iphone 5 comes out and see if it has a good upgrade. if it isn't worth it, i'll trade in the 3gs for a cheaper iphone 4.

-so much trade-ins, don't know if it's worth the bother.

2) don't buy any iphone, and wait until possibly september when the iphone 5 comes out and decide then if i should get the cheaper iphone 4 or new iphone5.

-if i choose this option and september comes, but the iphone 4 isn't any cheaper or i can't get it in 16GB model, i might kick myself.

3) just fuckin buy the iphone 4 now and shut up about it.

so should i get the 3GS for cheap now, the iphone 4 now, or nothing and wait for the 5? it's quite the conundrum. :confusion:

I have an iPhone 3GS it works perfectly fine.. and as far as I've read the iPhone 4 isn't that much better.. I'd go for an iPhone 3GS if you need one now.

Don't know what the iPhone 5 has to offer but I don't think it will totally rape the 3GS.. it'll probably have a better camera and stuff like that..

If I were you I'd watch newest south park episode about apple and then forget the whole thing. But if I have to choose between those three I'd say wait till iPhone 5 is out, it's not that far away and from what I've heard it's pretty coolmastah.

from what i've read, which is mostly rumours, is the the iphone 5 maybe just a little upgrade from the 4. like you said, one rumour is an 8 megapixel camera, it might had a different back instead of glass.

does the 3GS run the new iOS 4.whatever that the iphone 4 runs?

I think mine runs on 4.3.. unless I'm looking at the wrong thing..

I made the mistake of buying the 3G right before the iPhone 4 came out and it got outdated so quickly. It's now unusable with all the new software only the iPhone 4 can handle.

DO NOT go for the 3GS.

DO NOT.

so i phone the company and these are my options:

1) wait until im 19 and i can sign a new contract with a new phone. this will be in October, so the new iphone 5 will probably be out by then.

2) buy an iphone at full price and use my current SIM card in that phone. problem: im stuck buying a 3gs because the iphone4 uses a micro-sim card and my current one won't fit.

fuck it. i think ill go for option 2. is $ 549 dollars justifiable for this phone?

I really don't know, it's really a lot of money. I paid around 200$ for mine, and if I had to, I would make the same choice again. If you're talking about the 3GS, 549$ is way too much money, you can still cut your sim card to make it work with the i4.

You need to upgrade the OS version, you know? Only little amount of apps don't work with 3GS.

I'd say 3GS all the way. The 4 looks awful, and aside from the better cameras, it isn't much of an upgrade imo. Dislike.
5 is rumoured to be just like 4 with only little upgrades, so why bother.

appearance is all subjective. personally, if they go to some kind of aluminum back design that is similar to the ipod touch i think it would look great. also, its rumoured to have an 8 MP camera, which would be sweet. clearer resolution is nice. but like you say, is it worth it? we'll have to see.

anyways, i believe i've found a guy over kijiji that will sell his 16GB 3GS to me for $300 tomorrow. it is in great chape and completely unlocked so i will be able to put my current normal sized SIM card and use it.

Well, (not to sound like a gay apple fanboy) ..the iPhone 4 has double the resolution of 3GS, sexy ass camera as you mentioned, enhanced movement detection, 40% increase in battery life, HD video, and a camera in the front, so its a pretty big step from the 3GS.

I'd get the iPhone 4, because as Tomi said the iPhone 5 will more than likely just be the iPhone4 - version 2. lol

thats the thing though, when 5 comes out it'll maybe have a faster processor (A5 like the ipad2) and maybe a few cool features. but if it isn't much of an upgrade, why buy the iphone 4 now when it'll go down in price once the new one comes out? thats what i think i'll do eventually.

i should have gotten the iphone4 6 months ago...

I've got an iPhone 3GS, and I'd say that iPhone 4 is amazing, but 3GS is better for its price.. I mean.. it's almost the same and it costs much less.

Sorry for the late answer, but yeah, if you cut your sim card well it should work, can't remember where i saw that, but it seems that the chip is the same for the normal sim and the micro sim
