This was from years ago, and I've been meaning to put this up since I joined TNS, now here I am 2 years and 1812 posts later finally posting this...

It was a random Sunday back in 2008 and I came home and checked my youtube channel to find that TheBrownBrigade (Brownsound's username) had sent me a message in my inbox. This is what it said.....

Hey I was watching an Angels vid by sum and I saw you commented on my leaving sum and hoped it was a phase. The honest truth is I would love to go back to sum41. Things in my home life were getting pretty stressful and I needed some time to help my family get back on their feet. So you were right it was a phase.

Nice. It probly will never happen, but it would be awesome if Dave came back with the sums, with Tom staying in the band as a member. Just give Tom, deryck's guitar parts, so that way Deryck could focus on singing and would have more freedom to move on the stage during shows.

Weezer did that last summer when I saw them, Rivers Cuomo was only singing, so he could move and do tons of things on stage. It was great.

nah, dave would just cause tension and strife within the band. i've grown accustomed to having brown tom at this point, and people shouldn't get their hopes up. besides, who knows if the sums would even want him back, cuz deryck always talks about how "he quit the band" rather than saying "he had personal matters to attend to," etc. plus, don't you think we would've heard something by now if that message was from way the hell back in 2008?

That would be pretty cool. Normally I wouldn't like it but something about it just seems cool... I feel like they'd be a complete band then.

Well, I guess it'll never happen really, but I never thought it was just a phase. I mean, he says here it's about what happened in his family life and all.. but back then in the band it was about the music and the direction they were heading after Chuck which turned out to be UH.

I was thinking from these first few songs from SBM that Dave wouldn't of minded being on this album lol. Maybe he wants back in

Dave belongs in the Organ Thieves. Brown Brigade was never going to make it big, especially not with Dave as a self-conscious singer. you can tell that when he's playing with the Organ Thieves, he's having a great time.

They played. I did see Ian D'sa though.

I don't blame him for quitting the band before Underclass Hero. That album was bad.

Don't expect anything out of this. This message was from 2008 :P And besides, I like tom.

agree. seeing Tom Delonge prance around stage with AvA just singing was weird, he just doesn't look right without playing guitar!

When I saw them last night Deryck took his guitar off for like 4 songs. I actually really liked it. He was really energetic and jumping all over the place.

Tom is more a part of the band than Dave was during the Chuck era. The Sums probably haven't felt as good about themselves as a band as they do now since they did around '01, '02. With the four guys now, they're all really good friends and stand for the same thing. I think Deryck wouldn't ever welcome Dave back into the band after coming so close to losing it all during the GCY tour and all the unrest that came with it.

But you never know - I would love to see it one day
