I guess this joins the confirmation of them playing in the Czech Republic on the Rock 4 People festival, and Tomi said they were confirmed for another festival, I forgot which one. Hopefully they might be also playing Rock am Ring/Rock am Park and Nova Rock as they cancelled those two last year with Stevo's accident.. and maybe Download and Reading/Leeds. That might bring Sum 41 back to this high point where they headlined bunch of festivals like Reading, Leeds, Pinkpop, Pukkelpop, etc, back in 2002 and 2003.

As long as they don't sound as shit as in the video from that festival in the SBM thread it should be good!

What about 2002? or 2003? I know they've played it two years in a row and in both videos they brought tons and tons of crowd, and the crowd gone wild and they were on fire back then.

They had an enormous crowd in 2002, think they played beneath Blink on the bill that evening. May have been 2003 though

they didn't headline though. in 2002 they were 4th from top on the main stage beneath Foo Fighters (headliners), Muse and Ash. in 2003 they were 3rd from top Beneath Metallica (headliner) and System Of A Down.

Well, good spots too! I wish they were going back to play such spots on such big festivals again, and not short festival sets, like they did now on Soundwave playing only 9 fuckin' songs. Also, I think in 2003 they did headline some festivals.. Pukkepop or Pinkpop.. or both, I think they were headliners.

they'd never draw the kind of crowds these days they had back then, unless something very drastic happens with this album.

The album is drastic indeed.

Album is going to be epic, no doubt about it... but it's true, there's barely no promotion from Island. The closest thing to promoting this album was that I saw on the Island Records Facebook page that they linked to that stream of Blood In My Eyes yesterday..
But they're still selling out shows like crazy... not that these are so giant venues or so... but still a couple thousands a show, it's pretty great, and they should be given a chance to headline a festival again.. or co-headline or be close to a headlner, rather than be one of the smaller bands and play less than 10 songs a set.. same was with Warped where they played on a small stage and barely played 8 to 9 songs but still drew one of the biggest crowds every day of the tour.

for the record, it looks like Sonisphere won't be selling day tickets this year. it's the full weekend or nothing!
