okay so i had utorrent for my old family pc (windows XP) and when i wanted to download torrents, i went to the website, found the file i wanted, clicked :download torrent" and it would prompt me to either "save" or "open". i'd always hit "open" and then it would open utorrent and another window that had a large list of files included in the torrent and i could check the ones i wanted to download.
now, i have utorrent for Mac and when i want to download a torrent and hit the download button, safari automatically downloads the torrent file, but whatever. when i click on the file thats in my downloads folder, it opens utorrent and automatically starts downloading EVERTHING in that file. this is total bullshit because if i only want a few songs, or if i want one song from a discography, im forced to download all the songs in that file, which is total fuckballs. is there a way to fix this? please tell me there is!!!!

i don't use that torrent client, but i have bitlord and it does the same thing with the list when i open it. i can right click on the file in bitlord and click properties, then it'll have the list in there and i can change it

Re: uTorrent problem
I can't be of much help because I don't own a Mac, but you could maybe try just using a different torrent client, like Miro or something..?

Re: uTorrent problem
The other i can suggest is that you change the setting so that when you add a torrent is does not start to download automatically but instead puts it in a saved state. Then actually open up the torrent file in uTorrent, not the window manager (by double click i assume). Then there should be a tab called files or something similar and unchecking the one you dont want.2712 wrote:yeah, theres nothing in the menus that seem like they may fix the problem.Boni Boy Blue wrote:Have you tried look at the settings?
Hope this helps and i should state that I'm onlyy guessing because I
have never used uTorrent on Mac but I have used Transmission Orbit on Mac.

Re: uTorrent problem
Linux doesn't have uTorrent yet :(
I use transmission without any problem, as long as it has DHT and PEX I'm happy.

Re: uTorrent problem
You can select the files to skip inside a torrent after it has been added/started, at least in the Windows release, just go to the "Files" tab. I always have it set like that, so I can just add a bunch of torrents to my queue while browsing and then open µTorrent to go throught them again and select the files to skip.
Somehow I can't believe though that there is no option for that in the Mac version. It should say something like "Show a window displaying the torrent content files" or "Don't start torrents automatically" or something like that.
