FENDER deryck whibley sig...kinda.

Post by goonday41 »

fender just released this new guitar the fender blacktop telecaster.

http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0148200506

the guitar is a mixture of the tele hh (derycks original tele) and the 72 deluxe (derycks current tele). they come in silver (derycks original tele color) and black (derycks current tele color) and red.
fender has done this in the past, basically making a new model that is just like a current fender artists guitar, but making a few subtle changes and not attaching a name on it (in fear of low sales..)
obviously deryck uses single pickup teles but these new teles are a perfect mixture of his main two. coincedence? i think not. they even offer all the colors with a choice of a rosewood or maple fretboard! deryck had rosewood on the hh, and maple on the deluxe.
the best news??
theyre $449 on guitarcenter.com, musiciansfriend.com, etc.
check em out!

I'd get one, but I have enough Tele's as it is, haha. Not to mention ones that resemble Deryck's!

I thought the same when I saw this email a few days ago but I tried one of these out yesterday in Guitar Center (I'm on holiday in Florida atm) and it sounded absolutely awful. I guess you could improve the sound by changing the pickups or trying it through different amps but I tried it through an Orange Crush PIX 35LDX (same as I use at home) which makes my 72 Deluxe and Les Paul sound amazing but not in this case.

Sorry guys. DEFINITELY try before you buy this.

I tried this guitar again today and managed to get a reasonably decent sound out of it but to me it's not really bright enough and the sound is too muffled but that's just my opinion! I just find the 72 Deluxe sounds a lot better.

Just my opinion.
