[Review] Taking Back Sunday @ The Wiltern

Post by turtlehobopirate »

Taking Back Sunday @ The Wiltern, Los Angeles, California on June 29, 2010

So I saw them with the original line up.

The only supporting act was a band called Rufio that I have never heard of prior to the show. They're a skate band that I think are OK. Everyone just stood around and nodded when they played. They at least got the crowd warmed up.

Best show I've ever been to.
I read some comments from other people that went to the concert and they said it sucked. I guess the reason why I loved it was because I had a very clear view of the whole stage. Most people couldn't see much. I have to admit if I was some where else, then I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

Setlist:

1. Cute Without The 'E' (Cut From The Team)
2. Set Phasers To Stun
3. Liar (It Takes One To Know One)
4. One-Eighty By Summer
5. Bike Scene
6. Error: Operator
7. Existentialism On Prom Night (Straylight Run cover)
8. What's It Feel Like To Be A Ghost?
9. A Decade Under The Influence
10. Everything Must Go
11. Best Places To Be A Mom
12. You're So Last Summer
13. You Know How I Do
14. I'm Not Gay, I Just Wish I Were (Baby, Your Beard Hurts)
15. Great Romances Of The 20th Century
16. Timberwolves At New Jersey
17. MakeDamnSure
Encore:
1. Your Own Disaster
2. There's No 'I' In Team

I loved how they played so many of their old songs and am very surprised they only played one song from New Again that wasn't Sink Into Me.

Their performance was pure awesomeness. Starting the show with Cute Without The 'E' really pumped up the crowd and everyone was already going insane. I know I was. Adam talked a little between songs with John and the crowd. He was sort of interactive with the crowd, but not as much as the Sums are. Near the end of the show, Adam did a flip into the pit and the people that help with shows were completely freaking out. Oh man, it was great. For Your Own Disaster, only Adam and John came out, Adam with an acoustic guitar and John went to the piano. Here's the video if you want to see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfqfQvyDsh0

Overall, amazing concert.

Dude, you have no fucking idea how jealous I am of you.

Immediately when I found out the original lineup was coming back, I was like holyshitineedtoseethistour.

Then, they decided to skip Michigan...

Well, I'm glad you liked it. Adam said prior to the tour that they would only play one song from New Again, and I'm guessing he realizes that Everything Must Go is the fan favorite from the album. I am so excited for the new album. I just wish they'd mix up the set list so they didn't play the same shit in the same order EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!
And I know I said I needed space,

but I know I can't be comfortable in my own skin.

So when I say I'm scared to be alone, you know I mean it,

I'm just not ready to leave my room.
