Actually, I believe Scotty Doesn't Know is preformed by a band called Lustra in that movie. I've seen Sum 41 linked to it in several lyric sites, but I have yet to actually find a Sum 41 cover of the song. Perhaps they wrote it, but the lyrics seem a bit more grotesque than most of their songs, not to mention the repetitiveness of the song doesn't seem in line with Sum 41 content at all.

My best guess is that most of those lyric sites are wrong, and Sum 41 has next to no affiliation with Scotty Doesn't Know. Heck, I've seen those sites link songs about sex and alchohol consumption to christian bands, which doesn't sound right in the first place :devious:

I heard somewhere that the song was written by Sums, but recorded and performed by Lustra. I don't know, it seems like a Sum 41-y kind of song.

Apparently, Last.fm claims the song is often mis-credited to Sum 41, but actually written by Lustra. But they could be just as wrong as the other sites.

Nowadays I just assume it was Matt Damon.

it's a napster thing ... that happened a lot there back in the day. People miscredited songs to other artists all the time.

Scotty doesn't know and kick me when I'm high were songs that always got credited to Sum 41 back when I used limewire. But both songs don't have anything to do with the sums

It can also be miscredited beacuse the guitar riff in the beginning and in the middle sounds like Still Waiting.

That was SR-71, wasn't it? How would Sum 41 get credited?

Fun note: Will Sasso mentioned SR-71 along with blink-182 and Green Day 75 in the filming of Still Waiting music video, but Sum 41 hated the band, so it was left out.

@ 1:35
..I've seen that video waay too many times, haha. Don't they hate SR-71 cause they think they're ripoffs or something?

I've always really wanted to know what they think of Blink..

I can't see Sum 41 being that fond of any pop-punk bands any more. I mean, Deryck hated AKNF, and the band's proudest achievement is ditching the pop-punk scene to become damn good musicians.

Did I miss something? I don't remember him saying he hates it, just that when he looks back at it now, he feels kinda embarrassed to have written songs like those.

If he hated it, I don't think they would keep playing so many songs off it live.

I'm fairly sure I heard in a video interview a couple of years back that he really didn't like that album at all. Apart from ITD, FL and very occassionally MND (because, you have to admit, they're fun to play and listen to and have been staple songs since they were released), they dont really play anything off the album.
