So I live in North Carolina where they just passed a bill than bans gay marriage, civil unions, and it takes away healthcare to children with unmarried parents. It really pisses me off that this passed with more than 60% of the vote. I Mean are people really that ignorant and selfish that they would just ban a couple that are in love from marrying just because they are the same sex. For me if it doesn't pertain to my life i just leave it alone people should be how they wanna be and act how they wanna act. Also keep in mind that in north carolina you are legally allowed to marry your cousin. now i find that way more disturbing and weird than lesbians and gays marrying. at least they aren't related. And also in our constitution there is a thing called separation from church and state, so the government shouldn't even be allowed to meddle in what churches can or cannot do when it comes down to marriage. The thing with the kids with unmarried parents i also find unfair, i mean i do think that if 2 people are married and have a kid they should try to stick it out, but sometimes it just dosent work out but they shouldn't take it out on the kids because their parents got divorced.

ok i think thats enough of a rant from me for today, sorry i just had to vent

but uh what are your guys thoughts on all of this.

I agree with you. I've kept up with most of what you've said, and i can't say I'm surprised by the outcome.. I mean.. I don't really have a lot of hope for most of the South in general. These are people that 50 years ago still believed in segregation and discrimination.... I know there are plenty of people who do not fit that description, and its hard to generalize, but the majority the South is.... un-accepting, and unwilling to change.. It is disappointing. I agree with what you said though, it doesn't pertain to my life whether gays marry or not, so why should i even have a say in it?

I heard about this, how completely horrible, they go on about protecting the 'sanctity' of heterosexual marriage, but fail to be able to explain exactly how homosexual marriage will destroy this 'sanctity'. The only effect of homosexual marriage, is homosexual marriage, not heterosexual couples inexplicably splitting up or nuclear warfare. And the other one about unmarried parents is abysmal too.
How many homophobes does it take to change a lightbulb? None, they don't like change even if it might make the world a brighter place.

I think it's ridiculous that this is still a problem. Everybody deserves the right to love and marry who they want. I don't get how people can worry about anything that has nothing to do with them, people should be able to live their lives without it being anyone elses business. Live and let live :)

Great, now try getting them to follow this verse instead of the one calling gay people an abomination and saying they should be stoned (yes I know they can't do that now, but they are doing all they can by taking away their liberty).
