The Ringtone Thread

Text tone is that silly one that like... EVERY other iPhone user has. Keep meaning to change it.

I hate that, cause if one person gets a text, EVERY other person with an iPhone checks to see if they have a text.

Is that the one that goes "DODODO!"? I have that one as well, haha. There's really no other good tones though for it.

Right now I have the chorus and ending of Sick of Everyone. I have a shitload of Screaming Bloody Murder songs for ring tones. I'm really lazy with my ring tones though, I hardly ever change them or assign certain ones to certain people.

can you do that on iphone? do you need call display for that to work?

I'm not sure if you need call display, but I have it and I'm able to assign a ring tone and text tone for individual people. I assume you would need call display, otherwise it would be like having free caller ID.

Hold on. You have to pay for called ID? That's sounds shit.

ya most of the time. there are some plans that include call display or unlimited text but you can't choose both. on my carrier its an extra 7 bucks a month, i just can't be bothered to add that to my plan.

I've been accused to having caller ID as part of my phone for as long as can remember. I know I have an option to withhold my number on outgoing calls but I've never used it and it's always been free, at least on O2 anyway. I've been with any other provider.

I thought Caller ID is a part of GSM, and therefore just handled by the handset. :/

It most likely is. I've just never looked into it. Always taken it for granted.
