I've said this to my friends many times, but misery tends to bring out the best in creative people.

Damn guys! I went to sleep in the end, just to wake up to find 20 new pages of conversation and when I just entered Facebook the first post I saw was that from the official Sum 41 page posting the single! That Youtube link that Matt upped, and I can't stop listening to it. The song is awesome! Can't wait for the album.
Though the singing in the verses, the vocal melody, kinda reminds me of some song.. or something, dunno... maybe a little bit MCR or whatever haha I dunno, but this song is still awesome. It's way better than Skumfuk and beats UH in every way!

Also, lyrics are awesome.. mentioning blood, murder and god a lot... kinda new for Sum 41, and it's really cool, fits well with the aggression and all, and like Jeremy said, lots of emotion too. People probably gonna say they gone emo with all these talking about blood and lines like "watch me bleed" and such, but whatever, its awesome!

You know what really intrigues me?

When the solo starts it's like "yeah, cool!" and then there's these 2 tiny little seconds that I was thinking "hmm, it's strange where it's going now..." but then one second after that, it's like "oh yeah i see! wow!"

It's around 2:06 but you need to be very quick :glad:

EDIT/ By the way, I checked out the reactions on AbsolutePunk. They're mainly positive, allthough most of them think it's a weird choice for a first single.

But there was this dick, who said this:
Dick wrote:Weak ass hook, shit vocals, lame fucking guitar solo, whiny lyrics about of how bad his life is, and the drumming of a 7yr old.
I mean, I respect anyone's opinion, but I don't know... The drumming is insane, as well as the vocals and all of the rest. You see, that drumming is really good. You just can't deny that.

It’s like sounding really nice, having a good feel, that’s all about the guitar.
That’s what I care about. I’d rather be a better strummer than fuckin' jizz all over the fuckin' fretboard...

Jeremy Kill wrote:I just want to say this right now that the first line of the song ("I'm not quite myself these days") always sends chills down my spine. You know, with the knowledge of Deryck's divorce and whatnot, you get that, "Bawww" feeling when the song starts.

Anyway, I already said this, but I love the anger and emotion in the song. I guess I can kind of relate to it lately in the past year or so, which helps in me liking the song. I just love the style. I thought Does This Look Infected was my definitive favorite Sum 41 style of music, but as I've grown, I found that I'm more about the attitude and emotion of the song rather than complicated solos or riffs. Although, the solos and riffs are a real treat if I like the mood of the song too.
I felt really strange too, I mean it really gives me chills, especially the end lyrics "these days are strange,it's true/there's not a thing that I would change/no mistake that I'd undo". I liked scumfuck, but I really just find this one beautiful. Like you said Jeremy, misery tends to bring out the best in creative people, and I really think that's the case of Deryck. I really think this record will have the best Deryck's lyrics to date (though I think UH and Chuck had amazing lyrics too)

Well, now that the eruption from yesterday has calmed down a bit, I think we all can agree that we (including myself) were a bit overexcited yesterday with the fact that we would get a new Sum 41 song. SBM is an awesome song, I absolutely love it, and I can't wait for the album! But the first listen was better than the second, my speakers almost blew me off the chair the first time. The second time it wasn't that special, but still an awesome song! Hopefully they'll unveil the tracklisting and the official release date in the coming days!

Oh, and by the way, is it just me or does the guitar intro sound very similar to the intro of Devil in a Midnight Mass by Billy Talent?

I downloaded it from youtube so I could listen to it on school, it's so fucking awesome. I do think that the outro is kinda weird though, when I listened to it the first time I thought the song had started again from the beginning. But now that I know the lryics I think it's awesome.
