Being from the tri-state area, you will not find a single person around here that did not lose someone or knows someone that lost someone. I was in third grade on the date of the attack, we were too young to be told what happened, I didn't find out until I got home. Over the years I have grown so much anger and hatred for the monsters responsible for this. Through adversity, we found strength. But strength can never replace the thousands of innocent lives lost. To anyone on this forum who may have lost someone, you will be in my thoughts and prayers today. Even if you're not American, please try and observe a moment of silence today, if you're religious, say a prayer, if not, just let your thoughts go out to the families of the departed.

Re: 9/11/01
I was in first grade when it happened. When I came home, I remember my parents just sitting in the dining room really down. 9/11 is a really emotional day for me, even though I had no direct losses. It makes me feel like a real
American(as much as that makes sense).

Re: 9/11/01
I remember this day well.
I was 11 and had just started grammar school (secondary school, the equivalent of the start of middle school in America) and was having a normal day. I remember playing football on our school field really vividly. I walked home and my mum had Sky News on, which had the reports of what occurred all day.
I don't know anyone who was directly affected by the events of this day but I can understand what it felt like to be near to it, as I was in London on 7/7. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this.

I remember seeing it live on CNN. It was terrible, my English wasn't that good at the time (I was 11 years old), but I was shocked.

Re: 9/11/01
I didn't realize 9/11 was actually approaching until early yesterday morning.
I was in fourth grade when this happened. I remember coming home for lunch that morning and the tragedy being all over the news. I didn't really know what was going on of course, but everyone was affected in some way. I can't believe it was 9 years ago today.
To whoevers lost someone or knew someone, my best wishes go out to you.

In my law class, my teacher is showing us a movie on how this one guy explains how he thinks the planes didn't crash those towers.

It's probably the only thing I remember from 2nd grade, I honestly had a hard time believing something so horrible was really happening.

I remember coming home from school, turning on the TV in my kitchen and the news showing the plane crashing into the tower. I thought it was a some sort of film at first because it was just so crazy!

Re: 9/11/01
It was a surreal day indeed.. i remember coming home from school, and mom was in like a panic-lockdown mode and had the lights off and told us to be quiet. Then instructed us on what had happened. I also remember the teachers scrambling to put it up on the t.v. In all, i wish id been a little older so maybe i'd have a better grip of it, but I'm surprised how some of you feel just as bad, and aren't even from America.

Re: 9/11/01
I was in 7th grade, so 13. I saw the second plane hit live on TV...I'll never get that image out of my head. I couldn't really grasp what was happening to its full extent, its was like a daze. Brave, brave souls came forth that day. I remember one of my friends asking what exactly happen and I was trying to explain it to them, then finally just said "we were bombed" and they got it. It was just sheer panic across the States that whole day.

Re: 9/11/01
September 11, 2001 I was in third grade. I walked into class, and not much later I was called to the office for an early dismissal. I had no clue what was going on, but at that point I was happy because I got to leave school so early. I walked into the office where I saw my mother in tears. My smile was soon turned upside-down. She walked me to the car where my dad and sisters were inside. It was my little sister's first day of pre-school. I don't even think she went. We drove home and turned the news on. At that point I saw before my eyes the tradgedy that is 9/11. My parents told us to go upstairs, so me and my sisters went in my room, and I remember us being very mad and saying we were going to kill whoever did this. The rest of the day was just the same, I don't really remember what went on after that, but my dad was very mad and in shock at what had happened. None of us went to school the next day. I think both of my parents stayed home from work too. I remember seeing nothing but 9/11 on the news for weeks, and even weeks later, there was still smoke/ash coming from the site.
9/11 was a historic day, and a real eye-opener to make us realize there are people that despicable in the world. My heart goes out to everybody that was a hero on that day...all the firefighters, the NYPD, the many innocent people just going to work to make an honest living, whose lives were lost that day, and everyone who lost somebody.
It is our duty as Americans (if you're American) to never forget 9/11, because remember that those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.
