As if everyone would get free merchandise, tickets and backstage passes.. What the hell, let's just turn the stage around and everyone can be backstage! The label is only marketing this shit so stupid kids will be more willing to spend money on overpriced pointless merch later.

I joined the Goon Platoon about six years ago and even payed for it. Obviously doesn't mean shit anymore. Nothing was carried over once there was a new site. The only thing I still get is the Island Records newsletter These people fail so hard at forming a working community, just look at the comments on that news. Most fans there still expected the album to be released today because of the false date on amazon.de and other sites. That's why I joined TNS.
sum41.com has always been a piece of shit label site, so I'm glad twitter, YouTube and TNS took over most of its purpose.

As for the Goon Platoon: I was a member too, but I think they could have put a lot of more effort in it. Talking about the label, of course.

Of course they could, but the label's only interest is and has always been to make as much profit as possible. So after they got enough people hooked, they couldn't care less. The fans will still buy Sum 41 records anyway, because they love the music and know it's not the band who is actually disappointing them.

You probably have to pay some sort of monthly or annual fee to stay a member. I'm guessing whatever the price is to be a member would compensate for all the free stuff you get. I'm not sure though. Someone who's going to a Sum 41 show soon should let us know what the deal is with that!
