Try looking for the library file. Check your iTunes folder.

You need to go find your files on your computer.
They are there, just not in iTunes anymore.
And I know I said I needed space,

but I know I can't be comfortable in my own skin.

So when I say I'm scared to be alone, you know I mean it,

I'm just not ready to leave my room.

First of all, I don't use iTunes so all this is just guess work

When you say that library files just disappeared, I'm guessing this is simliar to Windows Media Player and is database file and contents no actual music which brings me to my point. Is all your music deleted from your Hard Drive?

If not, I believe you can just add all that music again

If you music is been delete here is how to get it from your iPod you have to adjust your folder settings
Start -> Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View Tab -> "Show Hidden Folders" -> Uncheck "Hide Protected Operating System Files" [This is just a pre-caution]

Now search your iPod and type *.mp3, this will display all MP3 on the device, now right-click the file and choose "Open Containing Folder" (Make sure during the search you search hidden folders.

Hope this helps

So assuming you're a computer tard, you need help locating your files? They're still exactly where you left them, whether it be you downloaded them somewhere or imported them from cds, you're the only one who knows. Just drag them back into iTunes once you find them all

i am not a "computer tard". i do know that i can just re-import all my music again, but i have downloaded a lot of music that isn't necessarily on my ipod. i was just wondering if there was an easier way to transfer all my songs from ipod on to my itunes.
