New iMac!

Post by Aaron »

My dad ordered a new iMac with the money he got back from an escrow or something(??) but here, check it out, it has a built in camera and mic!: http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB324 ... MjE0NDk5Mw

Also, we have at least 1,000 songs on our laptop and we have no freaking clue how we're gonna move all of them to the new computer before the old laptop dies on us. Any ideas?

I have that iMac as well. You need to purchase an external hard drive to back up all the files you want to transfer so you can transfer them to your new iMac. 1000 songs isn't that much space so you can find a cheap one. Enjoy your Mac!

ah man that is a very sweet iMac.

Nic's right about the external hard drive. You could use an USB stick or something but an external hard drive is always nice. Backing Up some important stuff is wise.....young padawan :hehe:

if your using wireless internet then you can just drag all your songs to your shared folder and do it without and ext. hard drive.

thats the way a did it when i transferred all my files from my old pc to my mac. took about 6-8 hours

No those methods are too expensive. Just get a simple ethernet networking cable, hook the cable up between the ethernet ports on both your laptop and iMac, find the shared network folder, and drag all your files over. I did this for my iMac and it works very nicely. Its the same principle as wireless networking but 2x faster as the information does not need to be transported at a cut down rate that wireless introduces.

Message back here if you get stuck.

My dad actually figured something out. We just converted them using a firewire cable. The iMac is awesome.

I have 120 GB of music on my computer.

I have a huge itunes library, and i care about stuff like playlists, play count, formatting, ect.

How the hell can i copy my itunes library exactly like it is to a new computer?
