Billy Talent

Post by TomiT14 »

Okay, so we had a band appreciation thread for them started 3 years ago, but it didn't carry on too far, so I figured I could start a new one aswell.

Like most of you should know, Billy Talent is releasing their 4th album this year. The name of the album hasn't been released yet, but what we do know is that the new album will actually have a name, unlike their first three (named I, II and III). I'm not sure about the current status of the recording process, but the drums and bass were finished a month ago, so I'd guess it's close to being finished.

And this is what they announced today:
Aaron the drummer wrote:Please look forward to a new single soon and new album in July.
So yeah, they are one of my favorite bands, so I'm really looking forward to this record.

Billy Talent is definitely in my top 5 favourite bands, their last album got old fast for me. don't get me wrong, there are a few great rocking tracks, but they didn't stand out for too long. im excited for this next album, i believe that it has the potential to be their best album yet and possibly a return to a sound similar to their first album, or something equally new and awesome.

Aaron also posted this on his twitter/facebook, he had heart surgery.
Aaron wrote:I never thought I would have to write another letter like this. In March of 2006, I wrote a letter telling you all I have MS. Now I am writing to tell you that I have a problem with my heart that needed to be fixed. On Feb 2nd, I had open-heart surgery to repair a leaky aortic valve. It’s going to take a couple of months before I start feeling normal again. In the meantime Jonny, Ben and Ian will be putting the finishing touches on our new record. I finished all of my drums in December so I’m going to take the next few months to get better. Unfortunately, we are going to have to pull out of playing Groezrock in Belgium in April. We were really looking forward to this as it was the perfect show to start touring this record. So many of our friends will be there and to share the stage with Refused was a dream come true. To all our fans in Belgium, we promise we will make this up to you. For now, please look forward to a new single soon and new album in July.

The surgery went perfect but healing takes a while. No other shows will be affected and I look forward to seeing you all in the summer.

Aaron
hope he has a speedy recovery.

This is Mark Allen Hoppus. He likes long walks on the beach. This, this is travis barker. He likes to be read poetry just before sunset. And me, I like to stick small pieces of furniture up my butt.

BT is in my top 3 favorite bands, along with the sums and Rise Against. Really stoked for their next release.

I think it's too soon to say it has the potential to be their best album, since we havn't actually heard any music from it yet. Once we do, I'll give my opinion on that. However, Ben clearly stated in a video update not too long ago that the new album is going to be more similar to their first record than the last two, so I sure hope you're right! =P

Billy Talent II is one of my favourite albums, sooo good. Looking forward to the next release. I read somewhere they decided to call it Billy Talent X lol, wonder if that was real or not?

"X" for "Xavier"? that'd be totally respectable.

I wouldn't really pay any attention to such statements, there is too many bands who have said the same thing and ended up too far away from the record they wanted their sound to be similar to

One of my favorite bands ever! They have such a unique sound.. there is no other band that sounds like them!

Anyway, I also read somewhere the new album is going to be called X, and they said many times that III was the end of the trilogy and that now the new album is going to be a return to their hardcore roots, which sounds great. These guys really follow a 3 year basis with their albums haha. III was released in July 2009... with the first single released in May, so I guess we'll hear a new single from them this coming May.

So, the album has been delayed to the Fall, because of the surgery of the drummer and some other things.
But they are releasing a new song this month for fans to download.

Damn that sucks the new album was delayed, I was really waiting for July to finally hear it, but it's really good news we're gonna hear new song this month! and that Aaron is better, cuz I remember like a year or more ago, there were a bunch of rumors about them even breaking up because of Aaron's situation cuz they didn't want to continue without him.

Anyway, I'm seeing them on June 6 in Amsterdam! I hope they're gonna play some new stuff and all! It's still seems weird they delayed it cuz of Aaron, in the sense that I remember they said recording of the drums was finished around February and recording is done and only the finishing touches are left, and they're touring throughout the summer, so I don't really see a reason to delay the album, but whatever, at least we're getting a song!!

Oh, totally! Forgot you're from the Netherlands. I'm actually coming to Amsterdam for a week, from June 6 up until June 14. So on my first night in Amsterdam I'm going to that show.

Do you live in Amsterdam?

Looking forward to downloading their new song at the end of May. Their last album didn't really capture my attention the way the first two did, but I always appreciate darker songs.
