Eduard Khil, everybody's favourite Soviet variety singer, has died at the age of 77. Khil led a tragic life in the second world war, witnessing bombings, being separated from his family and thrown into an orphanage. After the war, Khil became a variety singer, by the 90s becoming one of the most famous performers in the USSR. However, it was his viral hit which we all know and love (an old recording from 1976) which has thrown him recently into international fame, dubbing him 'Mr Trololol'. He suffered a stroke and went into a coma in May, left with severe brain damage, and died yesterday in hospital.
