"The album won't be out for at least the summer".

I guess we're in for an autumn or winter release.

Oh noooo I so hoped that they will come to Rock for People in Czech Republic this year. There was even christmas video where played in too deep, starting in 00:41 haha. But they say they're coming back to Europe in August and Rock for People is at the beginning of July, so I don't think it's possible that they'll be touring 2 months straight in Europe :/

Alright! So the Manchester show was fucking awesome, the crowd were absolutely mental. I've gotta say as well Frank Carter really knows how to put on a show, he was in the crowd and getting everyone going crazy.
Spoiler: show
I'm so glad they played 88! Thank you Bizzy!!

Also it's Tom that sings Ruby Soho, which makes a lot more sense.

Deryck said that Underclass Hero wasn't in the setlist but they played it anyway, I think this might have been instead of Pieces which they didn't play

Unfortunately I don't think they had time to do No Reason but we got 88 so I don't care! They didn't play Makes No Difference either but that hasn't been on the setlist for every show anyway
I was trying to think earlier what the last punk show I went to was and honestly I can't remember but I was surprised to see so many younger kids under 18 there, I don't know if it's because it's the Kerrang! tour but I think the whole pop punk revival that's happened in the past few years has really helped. So cool to see younger people getting into the same music I was listening to at their age. But it's crazy to think that I probably went to my first Sum 41 show before some of the crowd were even born! Fuck I'm old!

Dave looked so happy to be back, he was just grinning and smiling the whole time. Singing along to all the old and new songs, clearly absolutely loves it which was fucking awesome to see. I also spotted Deryck being hustled into the tour bus after the show by some big security guys haha.

Can confirm that Setlist.fm is accurate for this one (spoilers obviously) http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/sum-41/20 ... 36d1f.html

Maybe Deryck can answer this one - but the new Telecaster with the F-Hole - is that a decision because of the overall sound now that you guys have 3 guitarists? I figured it must be lighter as well so less strain on your back? Looked cool anyway, took me a while to actually notice it was different.

haha yes they rushed me to the bus faster than i was expecting. i was using the bus as a dressing room since i couldn't be in the same room as the other guys because of how sick i was there. i didn't really need 6 huge men ushering me through the street, but whatever. yeah i use the new fender for both of those reasons. it has a bit different of a sound. not a huge difference, but just enough. we're treating how we play live the same way we play on the records. which is two guitars stereo and one that comes in the middle for choruses and all the big parts. etc etc. and that guitar on the albums is usually a p90 or a hollow body guitar. p90's are too noisy and not really my main kind of sound live, so i like the fender. it's my same original sound just a little bit different. and the fact that it's really light is a huge bonus for my back. i love playing it.

Just got back at the hotel after a great show, got pulled up on stage again! But of course Tomi had to take the cake, he sat backstage for hours!

So last weekend they played in Amsterdam. I wasn't there but I read that they actually did a little of Seven Nations Army, to which all the Dutch people start screaming "Alle Duitsers zijn homo's", or "All Germans are gay". That's just what we do when we hear that tune, but I don't know if they'd expected that :devious:

so glad they're playing this tune. I'm just waiting for Dark road out of hell to be played in it's entirety one day. That's what the world needs. It would bring peace to the universe and balance to the force.

I was crushed when I realized I couldn't go see them this time. I really hope there'll be more europe dates in the very near future. I'm getting so jealous that everybody's going. It makes it even worse that all of these shows are very close to where I live.

We took a road trip with Tomi and Cyril for 3 dates : Amsterdam and the two Paris dates ! It was completely incredible. The first show in Amsterdam was so EPIC ! Tomi got to go backstage with the band for a long moment ! He seemed so happy, it was really cool for him ! While waiting for him to come out, Cyril came with me to a coffee shop (yeah yeah I know it’s wrong but it’s my guilty pleasure aha) then we met him in front of the venue with Cone, Deryck and Dave who were really cool with us. Mitchell was also there, very cool guy. We talked with Cone and Dave for a bit before the show the day after !
Image
The day after we are arriving at the venue, everything is going ok, there are already a lot of fans waiting (on the pavement in front of the street of the venue for security reasons since the attacks). It’s the first time I’m coming back to Paris since the tragedy (I live 50km away from Paris). This first day wasn’t particularly good for me. I was shaking when I went into the venue. It was really horrible, I had a panic attack for a few minutes then Deryck’s bodyguard came to get me to let me see the show from side stage. Very nice of them ! The concert is really better when you’re in the pit than on side stage because on stage you don’t have returns. You can distinctly hear the drums but the singing and guitars are way lower. It may be the reason why I liked the show in Amsterdam better ! I was at the 2nd or 3rd row, it was completely crazy.

Just after the show, I directly went back into my car to get back home. This day reminded me of a lot of bad memories.

The next day, I joined Tomi and Cyril later in the afternoon, a lot more relaxed. Once again, Yoshi comes to get me on the stage. The show starts, the band is really on fire ! I never saw them as good live ! They played 2 completely different sets for the two Paris shows, which is really cool ! Franck is totally incredible ! He’s a beast, I love that. He’s really an asset for the band.
Like he always does, Deryck chose some people to get on stage, and there I saw Tomi being chosen by Deryck ! So happy for him !!!! He joined me on stage and we had fun for more than an hour ! The last songs were completely crazy, they were on fire !
Just after the show, Yoshi came to get us for our interview with Deryck. I was very surprised, he was really nice, looked good, I was happy to see him blooming like this. We had 10 minutes for our interview which was perfect ! We were able to ask everything we wanted to, take some pictures with him and make him sign some stuff for the french fans (we will organize some contests) and that’s it !

It was really 3 incredible days. The band and its staff are really nice and it’s good to see. I was very surprised by my meeting with Dave who is also really nice and always smiling ! I love him !

I'm really pumped about the fact that old songs are coming back
for example Handle This in 1:38! One of my favourites from the older ones. Haven't heard this one for such a long time! Also Summer sounds amazing live with 3 guitars! I'm sure I'll catch some show in August when I'll be able to walk again, but I still hope there will be some date in Czech Republic! haha.
And also I noticed camina burana as Intro made comeback at some places, always loved that as intro!

And awesome that Amin and Tomi enyojed show in France so much! Too bad I couldn't join!

I watched this last night and at 4:24 is Frank's drum solo during King of Contradiction. I'll be honest, Steve is a great drummer, but I always thought he held back on his solos. Frank on the other hand seemed to really give it his all and it was very entertaining to watch and listen to. I'm quite pleased with Sum 41's current line-up. It's practically a super group and it really feels like they can do no wrong.

I don't know if it's just me but it's really sad to see Tom in the back like that. He's a member of the band, not some touring guitarist.

They actually tried to be four in the row, but it was too crowded. This was the best setup, so that the guys could move around and Tom could play the keyboards as well. And they do change places, Tom comes to the front when he plays the solos, for example.

But yeah, I was sad at first too. But now I see there's a reasoning for that.

That will be amazing, it reminds me to Linkin Park when they used to release their shows as a DSP on his website. That will be amazing if the sums do something similar.
